Trent's cousin Dustin had these words to say about him.
He was loved and he'll be missed but with his life we were blessed.
Trent was a very kind young man who dearly loved his family and friends, he loved music and guitar. He played in the band Sundogs, he also loved his job working with Smartlabrador as a field worker. We think of you every day Trent and miss you the sparkle in your eyes the way you brightened each day your lovely smile for you will be part of our hearts forever Trent.
We love you.
Trent was the Regional Fieldworker for Northern Labrador (Nain office).
In February 2003 Trent Wyatt was killed in an automobile-snowmobile accident in the Labrador community of Natuashish. He is fondly remembered by his family, his co-workers and his many friends.
Trent prepared this short biography for our website in 2002:
Biography My name is Trent Wyatt; I am 20 years old and the regional field worker for Zone 1, covering the communities of Nain, Davis Inlet and Hopedale. I have been permanently residing in Nain for about 5 years now, but have been coming to Labrador since I was 5 years old. During my days of High school at Jens Haven Memorial in Nain, I became involved in various volunteer groups and organizations in the community such as the recreation commission and school council to coaching hockey and hosting a local radio show. Today, most of my extra time is focused on a band that I sing for called The Sundogs in Nain, we also develop the community by participating in the community. An example of this is teaching the youth of the community to play.
Upon completion of high school I did some International development work with Canada World Youth in Ontario and Thailand for seven months. I attribute many of my personal skills and abilities to these short seven months. I have attended some Post- Secondary at Memorial University but had to be exempted for medical reasons. I have also been a substitute teacher and a weather observer. With the exception of courses in high school and some training, most of my computer skills and are self taught, as its something I was always interested in and plan to further my education in, during the next few years.
The funny thing is that SmartLabrador gives me an opportunity, with technology, to help develop new inventive programs that I have dreamed for years would be beneficial to Labradorians. I love this job.

Recently Trent's former supervisor, Cindy Robbins, wrote this about him:
"Trent worked for the smart community initiative, SmartLabrador, for the past two years. He wasn't hired because of his education or experience - he didn't have much. He was hired for his enthusiasm, his willingness to learn and his ability to communicate on local issues. We haven't been disappointed.
"Trent climbed a steep technology learning curve and hasn't looked back. His grasp of community development concepts and issues has been superior. He was an empathetic person, and has been a kind of barometer of how our project is impacting communities at a local and individual level. He had an exceptional sensitivity to the way in which programs or policies will be felt at the community level.
"Trent planned to study International Community Development and Information Technology after he finished with SmartLabrador."
